It's Thanksgiving!!

Let's give thanks!

For many Americans Thanksgiving is one of the most important holiday of the year. In America this day was made a national holiday by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863. It's a time to give thanks for everything good during the year. People get together, watch football and celebrate with big dinners. Turkey and pumpkin pie are traditionally in the menu.

A Pilgrim boy and a Pilgrim girl. The Pilgrims (English) arrived in America in 1620. They wanted religious freedom and the native Americans - the Indians - helped them to survive in their new land.

I live in a terraced house in a street of six houses. I like this because I have a girl friend who lives near me and she can entertain me.
There are nice people where I live but there aren´t many people in my street.
In general, I think I'm very lucky because my neighbours are very nice and are there when I need.
We're a small family – mum, dad and me. I also have pets such as cats.
My school isn't near. It is six miles from my house.
My room is small.
I don't share my bedroom. I like my bedroom because I have what I want and need.

My house

I live in a house. I like it because I haven’t got neighbours who annoy me.
There are lots of nice people. I like my next door neighbour because he is friendly and very helpful. Opposite there is another neighbor. In general I think I’m very lucky, because my neighbors are friendly and because they are generous.
We’re a small family, my mother, father and brother. My school isn't near because it is 6 miles from my house. There are people and animals. Children can’t play because there aren't any in my street. My room is big. I don’t share my bedroom. I like my bedroom because it is my refuge when I'm sad and that's where I spend more time. In my room I sleep, play, sing, dance and surf the net.
